Budapest Art Fair 2009, Antique and Contemporary Art Exhibition and Fair, the most significant forum of art-dealers and art collectors, will be organized in the Art Hall between 19 and 22 November 2009. Since its launch 16 years ago, the Fair has been the first and only art event in Hungary where those interested are able to review the offers of the domestic art market at the same place and time. In addition to the foreign galleries being regular exhibitors of the event, this year will see Austria, introducing four galleries, as the honorary guest of Budapest Art Fair recognized by foriegn art portals and professional forums as well.
Besides the masterpieces of classical and modern paintings and contemporary fine arts, the exhibition will await its visitors with unique works of art, furniture, and interesting programs, too. The famous local and foreign galleries - including Gilden’s Arts, a regular exhibitor of the event, being present in Tel-Aviv and London as well, Galerie le Minotaure of Paris, offering both antique and contemporary works as well as the four Austrian galleries introducing this year – will show the most precious and most special works of their collections at the exhibition to be held in mid-November. The quality of the works will be guaranteed by a jury this year, too - in accordance with international practice and based on a specific system of criteria for each category, works of art will be assessed by a jury consisting of independent experts who will decide whether or not the work concerned will be exhibited.
Budapest Art Fair, antique and contemporary exhibition and fair, is made even more exciting by numerous accompanying events: in the course of guided tours art historians will assist visitors in understanding the works presented and those interested will have the opportunity of taking part in the professional forum of Artmagazin, where the managers of galleries and art journalists will discuss important and recent issues on arts and the art market during the panel talks.
Considering the success of last year, an even richer program will await children in the interactive playhouse – in addition to painting and creating figurines, kids can draw comics and design posters or write artistic reviews about the works of art seen in the exhibition with the help of art experts. According to the traditions, on the last day of the art fair in the Auditorium of Art Hall, a unique collection of graphics, caricatures and comics will go under the hammer at the 5th Comic strips and Caricature Auction of kArton Gallery.
In 2009, declared by Magyar Turizmus Zrt., the tourism supporter of the Fair, to be the Year of Cultural Tourism, each ticket to the Budapest Art Fair is a raffle as well! After the exhibition high-value prizes will be drawn, including tickets and vouchers to many museums in Budapest and a weekend-holiday in Pécs, the 2010 Cultural Capital of Europe. As this year Austria is the honorary guest, the main prize is a weekend in Vienna in the Advent season, for two nights at an elegant five-star hotel in the city of Vienna, together with the Vienna-card and MuseumsQuartier tickets.
