Budapest, which is famous for its health and thermal spas, offers a unique opportunity for ladies to use the thermal pool of a Turkish bath, the Rudas Health Spa. Rudas Health Spa launches a Women-only day every Tuesday between 06:00 and 20:00 for ladies wishing to enjoy the experience of bathing without a bathing suit. This service, which is not provided anywhere else in
Europe in an original, functioning Turkish bath, is accompanied by another important change: the days of the weekend have also been opened for women, so both sexes can enjoy Rudas in bathing outfits on Saturdays and Sundays. Those who wish to combine bathing and entertainment will enjoy the great parties on Friday and Saturday nights!
The Rudas Thermal Bath was established as early as the 16th century, during the time of the Turkish occupation. Its central part includes an octagonal pool covered by a 10 meter diameter dome. At the end of the 19th century, a therapeutic swimming facility and a sauna was added. The bath also has a daytime outpatient hospital with a complex physiotherapeutic section, as well as a drinking hall, offering drinking cures from three water springs: Hungária, Attila and Juventus.
The thermal bath is situated below Gellert Hill right by the Danube, close to Elisabeth Bridge (Erzsébet híd), on the Buda side of the City of Budapest. Address: Rudas Gyógyfürdő és Uszoda, H-1013 Budapest, Döbrentei tér 9. By public transportation the bath is easy to access on tramlines 18 or 19, or bus lines 5, 7, 8, 86 or 112. |
