In just 30 minutes from Chisinau (capital of Moldova) is the world's largest and one of the most famous underground wine complex of Mileşti Mici. Mileşti Mici is a titleholder in the Guinness World Records as the largest wine collection in the world. It is composed of 250 kilometers of subterranean galleries (only half of which are used) that reach as far as the edge of Chisinau. The collection holds over 1.5 million bottles of wine. Milestii Mici Industrial Complex was founded in 1969 for small storing, maturing and preserving high quality wines. The high-quality wine is produced at the factory and then stored in oak barrels or tanks in cool cellars to be evaluated by experts and ordinary consumers. Today, it is a big underground wine city, alike ancient Roman fortress tunnels, which is from 30 to 85 metres deep and its total length reaches 250 kilometres! You have the unique opportunity to walk along the cool, dark galleries and avenues where big barrels are placed and the bottles are laid down, dusty and covered with spider webs, waiting the day it will be opened for consumption.
