Our first stop will be at the Kronborg Castle in Elsinore, north of Copenhagen, is one of northern Europe's finest Renaissance castles  and was built in 1574-1585. Kronborg Castle is probably the most famous Danish castle, known worldwide from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Hamlet's spirit is still roaming the hallways of Kronborg, and every summer you can experience Hamlet Scene perform Hamlet on an open-air stage in the courtyard. Frederik 2's Kronborg is at once an elegant castle and a monumental military fortress surrounded by considerable fortifications with bastions and ravelins. It has not been inhabited by the royal family since the late 1600's. The castle houses collections of Renaissance and Baroque interiors, and among the main attractions is the 62-meter ballroom, the very well-preserved chapel and the mythological statue of Holger Danske below the castle.The castle was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2000. Next by the ferry from Helsingør (Elsinor) in Denmark we will reach the Helsingborg in Sweden in only 20 minutes. Helsingborg шы strategically situated at the narrowest part of the Oresund strait and opposite the Danish town of Helsingor (Elsinore), was for centuries hotly disputed between Denmark and Sweden.The historic town has many attractions, including old houses, stone churches, narrow alleyways to wander through. First mentions of Helsingborg refer to the beginning of the 11th century. Due to the fact this city has an advantageous trading and strategic location, its territory has always attracted the attention of numerous countries. In the 13th century the Danes built a fortress in the central part of the city. With the help of this fortress they have controlled the access to the Baltic Sea.  A classic city walk that takes you to Helsingborg’s most famous landmarks from Stortorget, via Mariatorget and Stadsparken to Norra Storgatan and finally Norra Hamnen. Also you will see the Mariatorget, surrounded by restaurants from all corners of the world, Mariakyrkan or St. Mary’s Church as it is actually called. The church is the city’s oldest and dates from the 12th century but was rebuilt to its current gothic style in the 15th century. In the 14th century, the church was one of Denmark’s largest city churches, Kärnan, one of Helsingborg’s well-known symbols, is a nearly 700-year-old watchtower. The tower is the only one left of the medieval castle that was called Helsingborg Castle. Sofiero  and City hall. After free time we will return to Copenhagen.
