Today on our tour we will visit to Ancient Olympia, is the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The archeological site of Ancient Olympia is also included in the list of UNESCO with the places of world heritage. Starting our tour early in the morning from Kalamata we will be driving to Ancient Olympia. In the site you will see the ancient stadium that hosted the Olympic Games every four years from 776 BC to 393 AD, the Palaistra were the athletes used to train for the wrestling events, the ruins of the temple of Zeus that once hosted the statue of Olympian Zeus that is considered as one of the seven wonders of the world, the workshop of Phedias, the great sculptor, painter and architect who designed some of the greatest statues such as those of goddess Athina Parthenos, Athina Promahos and Olympian Zeus. After your visit at the site and the museum of Ancient Olympiaa lunch if you want before we start our way back to Kalamata.
