Route: Malmo - Torup Castle - Bosjökloster - Svaneholm castle - Malmo

Our tour will start from Torup Castle which situated in the middle of the beech forests in the municipality of Svedala, where you will find the well-kept Renaissance castle Torup. Torup Castle, completed around 1540, is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Sweden. It was built by Görvel Fadersdotter (Sparre). Torup Castle was restored between 1602-1630 to the the appearance it has today. Later Torup was owned by Stjernblad and Coyet families and since 1970 the Malmö municipality. After we will drive to Bosjökloster. Bosjökloster was founded in about 1080 A.D. when a Benedictine monastery for women was built on the shore of Lake Ringsjön. The oldest document in which Bosjökloster is mentioned is a bull from Pope Lucius in 1181, in which he confirms the convent's privileges. When the Reformation in the 16th century came to Skåne, which then was Danish, the convent was closed down. But even today there are many relics from the time of the nuns at Bosjökloster, among them the original vaults (once the nuns' refectory), the church, which is still attended by the local population, ruins of the penitential chapel, the little churchyard where the nuns lie buried under simple stones, and the Thousand Year Old Oak, which still comes into leaf every year in the park. Our next stop will be at Svaneholm castle. The castle of Svaneholm is d in a beautiful park by the lake Svaneholmssjön, outside the small town of Skurup in southern Skåne. The castle was built in 1530 by the Danish privy council Mourids Jepsen Sparre. The most famous owner of the castle was Swedish politician and military man Rutger Macklean, who took part in revolutionising agricultural practises by breaking up the land and restructuring the distribution of ownership. Inside the castle there’s a small museum showing what life used to be like through history, both for farmers and the people of the castle. Admire a rich collection of clothing, silver and other historic textiles. For a romantic experience Jane Austen style, rent a rowing boat and go fishing in the lake. A walk around the lake is a beautiful experience, finishing off with some coffee in the castle café. After we will back to Malmo.
