Our first stop in this tour will be at Orihuela which is one of the most storied towns, with a fascinating past for you to delve into. You will see at the ruins of Castillo Orihuela, a castle which once enhanced Orihuela’s status as one of the most important settlements in the area. Inside the town itself there are plenty of interesting landmarks to view. The main church is Orihuela Cathedral. Initially built as a Gothic church, it was “promoted” to cathedral status in the 16th century. Built over the top of an Islamic mosque, the cathedral features a mix of architectural styles, including Valencian Gothic and Renaissance, a grand and impressive interior – and even an organ from a Baroque renovation in 1733. Pop into the Casino with its beautiful tiled patio , enjoy a walk beside the Rio Segura which runs through the middle of the city, discover the Palmeral Park, browse the boutique shops, try the tapas bars, visit the market, shop at the Ociopia Mall. Also you will see the El Salvador Cathedral, Santiago Apóstol Church, Santa Justa y Rufina Church, Convento de Santo Domingo o Antigua Universidad, Miguel Hernández House-Museum, Diocesan Museum of Religious Art. After visit to Orihuela we will drive fo relax to Carmen Del Campillo Tea House. A truly magical experience awaits when you discover the hidden gem that is Carmen Del Campillo Tea House. The owners of the beautiful Moorish style building consider it, not just a tea house, but a place of spirituality and meditation. Indeed, upon entering the impressive wrought iron gates, you find yourself in a secret garden of lush green plants and trees with colourful bougainvillea vines dripping from the numerous upper terraces. The interior of the building is just as stunning, with beautifully carved arches, domed ceilings and mosaic tiles. The main lounge area offers comfortable seating, and throughout the building there are narrow staircases leading to a choice pretty balconies and terraces, all with rugs and cushions to relax on. Here we will drink tea and after that we will return to Murcia.
