Route: Nice - Eze - Monaco - Peillon - Nice

The first stop of our tour will be at village Eze were first populated around 2000 BC by Celto-Ligures tribes. The region was later colonised by the Romans and the first mention of the site dates back to the 2nd century in the itinerary of Antonin. In the 8th century, the coastal region was not safe for the population who preferred to seek refuge in the rocky spur that now occupies the perched village. The threat were the Moors who occupied Èze for some 80 years before being chased by William of Provence in 973. Looming over the sea at an altitude of 427m, Eze is the highest seaside village in France. The medieval walls that once encircled the village are long gone but the stony streets of the Old Town of Eze still wind precipitously uphill affording occasional glimpses of the sea far below . At the top of the walles village is an Exotic Garden (Jardin Exotique d’Eze) with drop-dead views of the coast. Visitors are also drawn to the two famous perfume factories, Galimard and Fragonard. With a long presence in the region, these two establishments vie for visitors, each offering free tours of their perfume factories, explanations of perfume-making. La Chevre d’Or is one of the most celebrated restaurants in the region and offers highly refined dining. Château Eza is also well-kown for its cuisine and the splendid views from its terrace. There is also an 18th-century baroque church and the modest 14th-century Chapelle des Penitents-Blancs.The next stop will be at Monaco where you will see the most outstanding attractions of Monaco during the city tour, Prince's Palace, The Palace Square, Monte Carlo Casino, Monte-Carlo Opera, The Church of Saint Devote, Monte-Carlo Harbour, The Chapel of Mercy, Jardin Japonais de Monaco, Cathedral of Monaco, Market Place d'Armes, Church of Saint Charles, Fort Antoine. The last stop of the tour will be at the magnificent fortified medieval village clings to a cliff face overlooking the Paillon de l'Escarène. Visiting Peillon is a true voyage back in time with its tortuous narrow winding streets crossed by vaulted passage ways and wide staircases. The tall stone built houses, stuck together in circular fashion seem to be literally carved out of the rock face. The sun washed ochres of the facades, the stones and tiles of the roofs blend perfectly with the landscapes which surround the village. It will be a real pleasure to wander around the narrow paved streets in Peillon and you're sure to admire the beautiful ancient houses and nice view to mountains. After we will return to Nice.
