Route: Odense - Faaborg MiniBy - Faaborg - Horne Rundkirke - Egeskov Castle - Odense
Duration: 8 h
Our first stop we will make at  the MiniTown which is a model af the old Faaborg, as the town looked in 1890. It's was done in a 10 to 1 scale. For this  have used, bricks, because  the houses are located outside all year.
Faaborg is a great subject for this transformation, as a lot of the houses from that period are well preserved and thus can be used if doubts arise under the construction of the house. You can see more than 140 houses built after original architect drawings, and hand crafted down to the smallest detail. Next we will visit to the original city Faaborg which name is  “Foburgh” which is believed to mean “the castle of the fox”, is mentioned for the first time in the year 1229, where King Valdemar the victorious presented Faaborg as a gift to his Portuguese daughter-in-law, Princess Eleonora. The old merchant’s city still has its original small and cosy streets that provide a glorious setting for a wide variety of shopping possibilities. Faaborg’s landmark, the Bell Tower is a relic of the old Skt. Nikolajs church which was demolished in the middle of the 16th century. The oldest parts of the tower date back to the 15th century. The view from the tower over the red roofs of the city, the hills of Svanninge Bakker, as well as the Southfunen Archipelago is breathtaking. Listening to the melodies from the largest glockenspiel on Funen is a pleasure. The western gate at the street Vestergade has been built around the year 1400 and is the only one, out of 3 presumed city gates in Faaborg, which has survived. All the restaurants, cafes and the architecture of the buildings surrounding the sculpture “Ymerbrønden” on the town square, create a pleasant atmosphere. Also you can to visit to the one of the most beautiful ar museums in Denmark - an architectural gem presenting the funen artists, who lived here and painted sceneries from the nearby surroundings of Faaborg - Faaborg Museum. Our next stop will be at the church in Horne is a part of Horne and Asdal parish , it was built in roman time in the 1100. The original church tower is estimated to be from the 1400 but the tower fell in 1630. A decision was made to use the old stones from the tower to build the porch and a burial chamber. Count Christian Frederik Rantzau rebuild the tower and you can see the dates when climbing the tower. The windows of the church are dated to be from the 1862 and 1866. The history of Horne Church is inextricably tied to the noble family Brahe . Several of the church's content items date from the 17th century and earlier, one of the original possessions is a medieval document known as the Hornebook, a national treasure of Denmark that is held by the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen. Our next stop will be at the Egeskov Castle, which was built by Frands Brockenhuus and was completed in 1554. In those days, political unrest, the Reformation and the Counts' Feud caused many landowners to build their houses as well-protected castles, and Frands Brockenhuus was no exception. He built his castle in the middle of a lake on a foundation of oak pilings, according to legend, in such quantities that "it took an oak forest to do it". The building, which looks so peaceful and idyllic to today's visitors was built for defence purposes. It consists of two long houses connected by a thick double wall - the first house could be abandoned and the fight continued from the second house. The double wall is so thick, it contains hidden stairs and a well to secure a water supply during a siege. The outer walls have machicolations for dropping solids or liquids on the enemy and embrasures, and the enemy's flank could be shot at from the towers. In addition, the only access to the house was across the drawbridge. During your visit you will see The Hunting Room,The Yellow Room,The Banqueting Hall,The Rigborg Room,The Victorian Room,The Music Room,The Tower Room,The Admiral's Room. After we will return to Odense.
