Route: Saint Moritz - Guarda - Ardez - Scuol - Bogn Engiadina - Tarasp castle - Saint Moritz
Duration: 9 h
Our first stop in this tour wil be at Guarda wth its twisting cobbled streets, Hobbit-like houses and numerous fountains.  The houses of the Engadine village have beautifully painted facades from the first half of the 17th century.  With a population of 160 Guarda is so beautiful a village that it was awarded the Wakker Prize. It also received the distinction «Of national importance». One of its stately houses inspired Alois Carigiet when he drew the home of Schellenursli. Also in Guarda the ancient tradition of the Chalandamarz is observed. This tradition involves chasing away the winter by the clanking sound of large cow bells. Our next stop will be at Ardez, a village with customs and traditions that have been practised for centuries. Ardez is regarded as a prime example of a village where the language and way of life are typically Romansch. Ardez  with an outstandingly preserved villagescape and typical Engadine houses, located on a sunny terrace on the southern slope of the Silvretta chain, amidst an impressive landscape of lush meadows and mixed forests. Ardez is one of the few Engadine villages not to have fallen victim to fire or other forms of devastation since it was destroyed by the Austrians in 1622. The typical, around-400-year-old Engadine village has houses decorated with sgraffiti and paintings and is particularly well preserved. The church dating from 1577 is worth seeing, as are the ruins of Steinsberg Castle, built in 1206 on a rocky spur. Also the river Inn is the only Swiss river to flow to the east, via the Danube into the Black Sea.Our next stop will be at Scuol which is truly spoiled for sunshine. It lies cradled between the peaks of the Silvretta range and the "Engadin Dolomites". This holiday area has retained its native cultural values and its natural surroundings intact - to the great pride of the Engadiners and the benefit of their guests. Engadine houses with ornate sgraffito characterise the old parts of the village. The Büglgrond and Plaz squares with their mineral springs are also worth a visit. Also you will see The late Gothic church of St. George with a Romanesque tower stands on a mighty rock, offering a rewarding view across Scuol and into the Swiss National Park. There we will visit to the Bogn Engiadina wellness spa in Scuol is a haven of rest and relaxation in the heart of the majestic Lower Engadin Alpine region. Here, you can bathe in pure Swiss mineral water. Six indoor and outdoor pools boast a variety of special features, such as massage jets, bubble jets, waterfalls, as well as a whirlpool and a salt water pool. The bathing experience is rounded off by a diverse range of wellness and therapeutic treatments that will additionally boost your health and well-being. Tune out, relax and let your thoughts wander as you recline on a lounge chair in our sunbathing lawn, or inside the Könz chill-out room, where a crackling fireplace ensures a warm and inviting atmosphere. Next our stop will be at Tarasp which located on the other side of the valley, at the foot of Piz Pisoc. It consists of ten separate settlements, making it unlike any other village in Lower Engadin. Not only that, its architecture, landscape and religious confessions are also different to those of its neighbours. Built in 1040, the iconic Tarasp Castle dominates the image of Lower Engadin and the history of this former Austrian enclave just as much as the region’s most powerful healing mineral water springs. Castle Tarasp, dating back to the 11th century, dominates the eponymous locality in the Upper Engadine. The castle belonged until 1803 to Austria, was laid siege to and fought over several times, but was never captured. During visit to Castle Tarasp you will see  knights' halls and ballrooms, old bedrooms, the castle chapel and the organ with its 2,500 pipes. The castle offers public organ concerts, tours as well as "active vacations," vacations during which the visitor can help with the annual maintenance work. After that we will return to Saint Moritz.
