Our first stop will be at the Kalø Castle Ruins , which was built in the Middle Ages and it is incredibly well preserved. As you travel the half-kilometre distance along the dam to Kalø Castle Ruins you are also travelling 700 years back in time. Arriving at the end of the longest medieval road in Denmark, which was constructed at the same time as the castle, you can easily imagine the life that went on behind the castle walls. King Erik Menved (1274-1319) had the castle built after he had defeated a Jutland peasants’ revolt in 1313. The castle is quite modern, e.g. with a flanking tower; the first of its kind in Denmark. Kalø Castle was impressive and nearly impregnable. However, in reality, the castle was built to keep domestic enemies under control, i.e. peasants led by noblemen.  Our next visit will be to the wooden frigate ‘Jylland’ is one of the longest and most significant historic wooden ships in the world. Built in 1857-1860, it was both the first and last warship in the Danish navy with an originally inbuilt steam driven engine and sails – a cutting edge hybrid of its time, superior in speed with its long and slender hull. It survived 18 hits during the battle of Heligoland 1864 and worked as a royal ship, sailing King Christian IX to the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Saint Petersburg in 1874 and 1876. During your visit to the original Danish wooden warship ‘Fregatten Jylland’ you will feel the tug of history, when you board the ship that still carries the smell of wood and tar mixed with the lavender in the royal chambers. Will see the beautiful craftsmanship and experience how the carpenters are working tirelessly to preserve this national treasure. Our next stop we will make at the Ebeltoft Gardbryggeri they produce craft beer and fruity sodas. The point of everything the brewery produce has always been to create great taste and interesting flavours using whatever is necessary to achieve these goals. Surrounded by scenic green woods and with a view across the ocean, the fresh furtile atmosphere surrounding the Ebeltoft Farm is what the brewery try to create a taste of in their sodas. As a small craft brewery Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri spends a lot of time experimenting with the beer flavours. As the Danish seasons change, so does the mood and the type of beer everyone feels like drinking. For an up to date status of which kind of beer the brewery are currently engaged you must to visit it.  Also the brewery produce the soft drinks which be more than simply a cold refreshment. Like a good craft beer or a nice wine, the brewery believes a fruity soda can be a delicious drink to be enjoyed on special occasions or as a non-alcoholic alternative on a night out. Our next stop we will make at the Ree Park Safari which extends over a 125 hectare, hilly and scenic area with forest and lakes approx.Under changing names, the park has evolved over the past 18 years from being a flower and fishing park, over a family park with pet animals, to the current safari park with a valuable focus on species in particular need of conservation. There you can choose one of two trasses like experience Ree Park from a real steam or diesel train. America Expressen takes you on a train ride back in time. By rail you reach the prairie.
