Route: Barcelona - Collserola - Caves Sant Sadurni - Xocolata Simon Coll - Sitges - Barcelona
Duration: 11 h
Our first stop in this tour we will make at mountain Tibidabo overlooking Barcelona. The highest peak anywhere in the Serra de Collserola range, Tibidabo is home to an amusement park, a telecommunications tower, and one truly iconic sightseeing spot is Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor. Sagrat Cor is perhaps the most fitting of Tibidabo’s attractions as this is the site where local legend says the devil tempted Jesus. The name Tibidabo derives from the Latin Vulgate Bible verses, Matthew and Luke. The phrase, tibi dabo, means I will give to you. It was supposedly said to Jesus by the devil as they looked down from a mountain on the kingdoms of the world. The name of Barcelona’s hill, then, refers to how it is the tallest anywhere around. Owing to the complexity of the project, its construction lasted nearly 60 years and was completed in 1961. However, the results were worth it. The entire exterior surface of the temple is filled with sculptures and beautiful details, that are truly breathtaking and can take hours to study. At the top of the church, Sagrat Cor, is a sculpture of the Sacred Heart by Josep Miret Llopart. The amusement park is also the oldest of its kind in the area. Constructed in 1899, the park offers more than thirty different rides, some of them dating back many decades. A few of the original attractions are also still operating, including the Museu d’Automates (Mechanical Museum). Our next stop will be at the picturesque town of Sant Sadurni, the center of Cava production. Here you will learn all about the making of this sparkling wine and also visit a chocolate manufacturer.  Up to the 1980s Cava was called Xampanya – the Catalan word for Champagne – as it is produced in the same method like the French sparkling wine. Due to the protection of the name of the Champagne region the EU obliged Catalan wine makers to use a different designation. This was the moment when the name Cava was born. In Catalan it means cave or cellar, thus the storage place of the bottles. During this visit we will  discover the Magic of Montesquius Winery! We will show you how cava is made without tricks, because where Magic Lives, no tricks are needed. The excursion includes tasting (minimum 2 products) and a tour through the winery&Caves from 1918. The most exlusive Cava?s need to be stored at a constant temperature of around 18 degrees celsius. The very special ones need to be in a horizontal position to maximize the contact of the wine with the yeast.  Also you can discover our Blindfolded tasting games. Our next visit will be at  the local chocolate museum of Chocolatier Simon Coll. Dive into their 175 years of chocolate production and taste their fine chocolates. Get to know where the cocoa beans come from and how they need to be processed in order to produce chocolate. Our last stop in this tour will be at Sitges which was  quiet fishing village  but today boasts a long and sandy beach, groovy boutiques, and a handful of interesting sights. Sitges has been fashionable since the 1890s. Get lost in its shady side streets and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere with its old whitewashed fisherman's houses. After leaving this charming labyrinth, you suddenly find yourself on the seafront. Make a stop in one of the numerous cosmopolitan cafes and restaurants and imagine yourself in St. Tropez. You will know the origins of Sitges and what has happened throughout its history, we will show you some of its hidden secrets, you will discover surprising details and you'll see beautiful modernist houses. We are convinced that the beaches in Sitges will spectacular you! During the visit you will see Museu del Cau Ferrat,Palau de Maricel, Casa Bacardi Sitges,  Fundacio Stampfli,  Church of Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla, La Playa de Sitges, Platja De L'Estanyol,  Playa de Sant Sebastia, Platja De La Fragata. After that we will return to Barcelona.
