The first stop of our tour will be at the medieval village Cagnes-sur-Mer where you can visit to castle Grimaldi. It was built around 1300 by Rainier Grimaldi, lord of Cagnes, the castle at that time was first of all, a fort, protecting the town from outside attacks. In 1620 Jean-Henri Grimaldi transformed the castle into a more comfortable and decorated rich palace. Nowadays, the Grimaldi Castle Museum hosts the olive tree museum and the collection of Suzy Solidor portraits. In the museum you can know all about olives, growing olive trees, olive wood, olive oil - the museum gives various information about this important part of the Mediterranean culture. Also the collection contains 40 portraits of Suzy Solidor, French cabaret singer, very famous in the 1930s and 40s, made by some of the greatest artists from that period, such as Foujita, Picabia, Lempicka, Van Dongen, Kissling etc.Our next stop in our tour will be at very famoust city Cannes which began like a a Roman camp, Le Suquet is Cannes’ old town quarter and the original site of the city. With its medieval buildings and a castle atop the hill, it offers an intriguing contrast to the glamour of La Croisette. This is the most picturesque part of town. It is easy to lose your way among the labyrinth of back streets, quaint passageways, and petite squares. Climbing to the top of the Suquet Hill, you will take in panoramic views of Cannes and the surrounding area. Cannes is one of the best-known cities in France. This is due in large part, to the annual Cannes Film Festival. From the 5th century and for a thousand years, Sainte-Marguerite has belonged to the monks of Lérins. A chapel built in honor of Sainte-Marguerite will have her name. Here you will know about history of the Fort Royal and the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask, some cells can still be visited today.
