Route: Valencia - Requena - Cuevas de la Villa - Olioli-Biodinamico - Bodega Chozas Carrascal - Valencia

The first stop in this tour will be at Requena. Step into the 8th century by climbing the steps of the medieval castle for a gorgeous, panoramic view of the Valencian countryside. After a short walk around the small town, we will end in the main plaza where we will visit Moorish caves, underneath the old town, used also in medieval times, for wine storage, among other things. The 22 caves of Cuevas De La Villa, located underneath the picturesque Plaza de la Villa, Requena Caves Vesselsare from the Muslim period, from the ninth to the thirteenth centuries. Some caves have wine storage jars, in others there is a well, a silo and an old ossuary. Also we will stop at the famed medicinal fountain of Siete Aguas, said to cure ailments of all types. Don’t forget your water bottles! After we will drive to San Antonio de Requena where we will visit to Olioli - Biodinámico. It is the only mill in the Valencia Community that is exclusively organic and located in the Regional park called “Las Hoces del Cabriel” (The meandering river Cabriel) which has been declared by the UNESCO as a Natural Biosphere Reserve, and is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. After the excursion throuth the factory we will test the local olive oil products. The last stop in this tour will be at Chozas Carrascal which is a single-estate winery which respects traditions and keeps pace with the times. While promoting Bobal as main local grape variety the winemakers keep experimenting with other grapes. In total 11 grape varieties are cultivated here: Chardonnay, Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc, Bobal, Monastrell, Garnacha Tinta, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot. The winemakers pay attention to the environment, their production has been certified as eco-friendly. The Chozas Carrascal wines regularly receive over 90 points from the leading national wine rating Guía Peñín. During the visit we will see the Wine Labels Museum, French oak barrels cellars, Fermentation hall, Bottling line, Sparkling wine (cava) cellars, Plants exhibition, Traditional winemaker’s mansion, Degustation hall with wine tasting, Winery shop. Once you've learned how it's made, you'll also have the chance to try some with a tasting led by a professional wine expert. After that we will return to Valencia.
